For many decades, prom season (typically April through June) has been one of the busiest times of the year at The Aqua Turf Club. Since Kay’s Pier opened in the mid 1980s, we have been the go-to prom venue in Connecticut. We host more than 30 proms every prom season, and many of the schools return year after year for decades. We have the capacity to accommodate both smaller and larger schools—groups of 100 to over 1,000. We offer competitive pricing compared to other upscale venues, with better food and service. The average cost per person is around $80 after taxes and fees.
What to Expect at an Aqua Turf Prom
Plan to arrive early and give yourself plenty of time to pose for photos throughout our beautiful, 35-acre grounds. Popular photo backdrops include the fountains, the gazebos, and the iconic Aqua Turf windmill. You’ll take the most unique pre-prom pictures right here at the venue.
Prom season is the best time for us to advertise to our future clients. We hear time and again from wedding clients that they experienced Aqua Turf for the first time at their proms. So, our team treats everyone that attends our proms as the most important person in the room. When you arrive at the parking lot, whether you’re in a stretch limo or your mom’s minivan, you’ll be greeted by a professional staff member and personally directed to our lobby for check-in. Our check-in staff will welcome you, provide your table number, and confirm your meal choice.
Once checked in, you’ll be ushered into a beautiful dining room and served a delicious dinner, with all of the personal touches that we provide for any other event, including weddings. There’s no need to worry about hurrying through dinner or splitting the check—these bases are covered, so everyone can enjoy their meal and a selection of delicious desserts. After dinner, things move out to the dance floor and you are your friends will dance until you drop, exhausted but exhilarated from an evening that will live on in your memory for decades to come!

Our prom packages also include an event planner who will review your seating arrangements and guest list in advance to make sure that everything matches up, and there are no hiccups when people are ready to find their seat for dinner. We will also make sure that your hired vendors (DJ, photographer, photobooth, etc.) all have a space in the dining room, as well as a display table if needed.
Safety is a Priority at Aqua Turf
Safety is very important to Aqua Turf, particularly with events that involve young people. Over the years, we’ve developed a set of safety rules to protect guests, chaperones, and staff members, while giving parents peace of mind.
We provide a coordinator to work directly with the school’s staff the day of the event to ensure everyone’s safety and that no detail goes unnoticed. Once the students and their guests are checked into the dining room, they are not allowed to exit and re-enter unless accompanied by a chaperone. Each dining room has its own private outdoor patio, however, students must be accompanied by a chaperone or school staff member to access this space.
There is a private suite available for each dining room that the school can choose to use for any purpose, so if any students require a private space for a special accommodation, we are able to offer that for them.
We also hire a Southington police officer to be on-site for each prom in case of an emergency. They’re an indispensable asset to us since they’re all familiar with the venue and surrounding area, though thankfully we don’t often need them to intervene for any reason.
Schools are welcome to breathalyze upon entry, and since our team can handle the check-in process, the chaperones are freed up to keep an eye on everyone and to be available in case any issues should arise.
